What We Believe at The Journey Church…
We have purposed at The Journey Church to offer ministries that are relevant to the entire family of all ages. It is our desire to give Bradley County, including Cleveland and the surrounding area a place to worship God in Spirit and Truth. This is your personal invitation to visit with us at your earliest convenience. If you are new to the area or searching for a place to belong, you are welcome here at The Journey. Remember ..the joy is in the journey when you are serving Jesus! What we believe…
In the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible.
In One God existing in three persons; namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
That Jesus is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead on the third day. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor, Advocate, and Lord of the Church.
That all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and is necessary for forgiveness of sins.
That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are received by faith in the blood and the finished work of the cross through Christ Jesus.
In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in Christ as Lord, is found in the Word of God and lived out in the power of the Holy Spirit.
That holiness is God’s standard of living for His people.
That all born again believers receive the gift of the Holy Spirit at their conversion.
That all born again believers are baptized into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit at their conversion.
In the divine imputation of all spiritual gifts as God wills which could include but is not limited to speaking with other tongues (languages), healing, miracles and the gift of interpretation.
That all spiritual gifts are from God and are to be used according to Scripture for the building up of the body of Christ.
In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Divine healing is available for all as God wills through the blood atonement of Christ.
The Lord’s Supper and the washing of the saint’s feet.
In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ. First, the resurrection of the dead in Christ and the catching away of the living saints in the air with Jesus. Second, the literal reign of Christ on the earth for a thousand years. Third, to the ushering in of the new heavens and the new earth and the eternal state of man.
In the bodily resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous. For eternal punishment in Hell for the unrighteous, and eternal life in Heaven for the righteous.
We do not believe that the only initial evidence of being baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:30 specifically says, “All do not speak in tongues do they?”
